Billy Graham’s daughter thanks those praying for husband Danny Lotz

Evangelist Billy Graham’s daughter Anne Graham Lotz is thanking everyone who’s been praying for her husband, whom she found unresponsive in the pool of their Raleigh home on Monday.

“Thank you for your prayers as we walk through this valley of the shadow,” Lotz said on Facebook Tuesday evening. “Danny is holding his own. The next 24 hours are critical and should give us some answers.”

Lotz included a passage from Lamentations 3:21-23 in her message: “This I call to mind and therefore I have hope; Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.”

“God’s faithfulness is great,” Lotz said. “We rest in His love and sovereign will.”

Lotz is a Raleigh-based evangelist who has just released an updated version of her 2001 book, “Heaven: My Father’s House.”

She found her husband in the pool about 3:45 p.m. Monday, according to her Facebook page. She said her husband is receiving “excellent care” in the intensive care unit of a hospital.

Danny Lotz is 78 and a retired dentist.

He was a sophomore forward on the 1956-’57 North Carolina Tar Heels men’s basketball team – the second undefeated national champion in NCAA basketball history and the first Atlantic Coast Conference team to win a title.

He is diabetic and has undergone dialysis for six years, according to a family friend, WRAL television station reported. What led to Lotz ending up unconscious in the pool is unknown, and the Wake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

About 1,470 people have posted thoughts and prayers on Anne Graham Lotz’s Facebook page this week.

“There is no doubt that your faith will carry you through the dark moments and the light will shine again,” one person wrote to Lotz and her family. “May God pour out His blessings and peace on all of you.”

“We are walking with you and your family in faith and prayer. ♡” wrote another.
