Charlotte Douglas International Airport was busy but running smoothly Wednesday on what is expected to be the busiest travel day of the year.

At 10:20 a.m., the Daily North and long-term lots were full, the airport said. The daily decks, as well as the hourly and business valet decks were open. Crowds will only grow larger throughout the day, officials said.

More than 800,000 people are expected to pass through the airport this Thanksgiving week. The airport encouraged travelers to arrive two hours before flights to allow enough time to make it through lines and security.
