Police identify man found dead in Lake Norman

Cornelius police have identified the man found dead in Lake Norman on Thursday as Thomas Schenck, 65, of Asheboro.

Police said Schenck had a boat at Holiday Marina in the 20000 block of Henderson Road, near where his body was found.

Police found no signs of foul play. They believe Schenck’s death was medical related or that he died of natural causes before drowning. The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine cause of death.
