Driver hit and killed a bicyclist on a busy Charlotte road, then took off, cops say
Police released a description of a car believed to be involved in a bicyclist’s hit and run death on a busy Charlotte road.
Karim Abdul Akbar, the 62-year-old bicyclist, was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic after he was hit in the 3600 block of The Plaza just after 9 p.m. Feb. 8.
Akbar was crossing the road when the driver hit him in the right northbound lane, police said.
The driver “failed to stop or notify emergency services of this crash,” according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department news release.
Police on Friday released new information in the case, saying they’re looking for a 2015-2017 Honda Civic Coupe with front-end damage and a missing “H” emblem.
