14-year-old shot, killed in 3rd homicide in 24 hours in Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide that took place around 1 p.m. in the 3200 block of Beattie’s Ford Road.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are investigating a homicide of a 14-year-old boy that took place Tuesday near a strip mall on Beatties Ford Road.

Police said Terreon Izavier Geter was shot and killed and another person was seriously injured near the 3100 block of Beatties Ford Road around 1:30 p.m.

According to Observer news partner WBTV, the shooting occurred when an altercation took place at an arcade.

The second victim was located with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound on West Trade Street and taken to the hospital by Medic.

A Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s deputy was working off-duty nearby, responded when they heard shots and tried to render aid, police said. Police have not released any details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The homicide is Charlotte’s 51st of the year and the third within 24 hours. The rate of killings has largely kept pace with the rate from 2019, which had Charlotte’s highest murder rate in 10 years. This time last year, Charlotte had 52 homicides.
