Mooresville police to hold more training for houses of worship

In response to Wednesday night’s fatal shootings at a church in Charleston, the Mooresville Police Department has added new security training sessions for houses of worship.

The department has offered the sessions about a dozen times this year, training about 100 people, Officer Lauren Childers said.

New sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday; 2:30 p.m. Tuesday; 2:30 p.m. July 10 and 17; 10 a.m. July 27; and noon July 30.

Each session will be in the police department training room, 750 W. Iredell Ave. No registration is required.
