CMPD releases names of four officers from fatal shootout with man in northeast Charlotte

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Wednesday released the names of four officers who fired guns at a man in northeast Charlotte after they say he shot and injured two officers.

Officers Austin Bartlow, Charles Lineberger, Jonathan Nicholas, and Michael Wilson Jr. shot at Reggie Allen Knight, 28, who was killed March 7 at a home in the 12000 block of Headquarters Farm Road, police said. CMPD went to the home to arrest him on warrants.

Knight faced drug and firearms charges, two counts of assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault by strangulation. He also was wanted in Iredell County on charges of driving on a revoked licensed and driving impaired.

The two officers shot were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police have not specified which two officers were shot.

CMPD is investigating the shooting to determine if any of their officers should face criminal charges.
