A 16-year-old boy was killed after someone fired a gun at a northeast Charlotte home early Sunday morning, according to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report.

The shooting occurred at 3:45 a.m. in the 4000 block of Hillsboro Avenue where six people were home at the time. The home was listed as an apartment or duplex in the police report.

The 16-year-old was the only person shot. Three children — ages 3, 4 and 5 — and two women — ages 34 and 35 — were also listed as being in the home.

A CMPD news release said officers attempted to save the teenager’s life, but he died after he was taken to the hospital.

No arrest has been made.
