A body was discovered when police responded to a Charlotte block dominated by a church campus, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Lindy Kompeak Hoeun, CMPD says.

Investigators say the shooting happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, in the 1600 block of Thriftwood Drive, off Freedom Drive.

“Officers discovered a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced the individual deceased on scene,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said in a news release.

The man was found in the church’s parking lot, WSOC reports. He was not affiliated with the church, police told the station.

“Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 704-432-8477 (TIPS) and speak directly to a Homicide Unit detective,” CMPD said. “The public can also leave information anonymously by calling Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.”

The 1600 block of Thriftwood Drive includes multiple structures affiliated with Freedom Christian Center.
