Police responded to two homicide calls within minutes early Saturday in different parts of Charlotte.

Officers said they were trying to determine whether the shootings were connected, but nothing indicated they were.

Around 3:30 a.m., officers said they responded to a report that someone with a gunshot wound had been dropped off at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. Hospital staff pronounced the man dead, police said.

Officers were trying to determine where the shooting incident took place.

Minutes later, in the 100 block of East Woodlawn Road, officers responded to a call requesting a check on a person. Police found a man with gunshot wounds and firefighters rendering aid to him, CMPD said in a video on social media site X.

The man died at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, according to police.

CMPD urges anyone with information about the shootings to call the homicide unit at 704-432-8477 or Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

This is a developing story.
