Person dead, another injured in south Charlotte house fire that started on deck

The Charlotte Fire Department said one person died and another was injured in a fire at a south Charlotte home early Friday morning.

A person died and another was injured in a house fire in south Charlotte early Friday morning, according to the fire department.

Charlotte Fire Department firefighters responded to the fire at 1:50 a.m. in the 9200 block of Raintree Lane, a press release said.

One injured person was taken to a burn center, while another was taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead. Authorities have not identified the name of the deceased person.

The fire caused $177,000 in damages to the home, the department said. Investigators determined the fire started in a back deck area of the home.
