19-year-old charged in shooting that killed two, injured two others in Concord
A 19-year-old man was charged in a quadruple shooting that killed two people and injured two others on Sunday, according to a Concord Police Department press release issued Tuesday afternoon.
Brandon Cortez Morris Jr., of Concord, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of armed robbery, and two counts of discharging a gun into an occupied property, the press release said.
Police identified the two victims as Michael Harrison Overstreet, 22, and Kemauri Ziquan Blount, 19, who were both from Monroe.
Police responded to a shooting Feb. 1 at 11:08 p.m. at 1480 Fairington Drive Northwest. Officers found four people shot. Overstreet and Blount were pronounced dead at the scene while the other two people were taken to a hospital.
An arrest warrant accused Morris of stealing a rifle from Overstreet and shooting two people sitting in the back of a Honda Civic.
Sunday’s shooting was the second double homicide in Concord this year. A teenager is accused of fatally shooting one person in a home on Kite Court Northeast and another person in a vehicle that same night.
Morris is being held at the Cabarrus County Jail on no bond, police said.
