CMPD finds woman dead during welfare check in east Charlotte, says she was killed

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the homicide of a woman found dead in a Central Avenue apartment Tuesday afternoon, according to a press release.

Police responded to a call requesting a welfare check at 4:30 p.m. in the 4300 block of Central Avenue and found the woman dead with injuries, CMPD said.

Police identified the victim as Evelin Carolina Enamorado-Cisnado, 26, on Thursday. Her injuries were not described in the press release or in a police report.

Lhis Brito Costa, 23, was charged with murder, police said . An Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainer was issued for Brito Costa, according to court filings.

The 911 caller who asked for the welfare check said the woman was possibly dead in an apartment at 4343 Central Avenue, the police report said.

Brito Costa is being held on no bond, court records said.
