17-year-old accused of attempted murder at Charlotte Walmart, warrant says
A teenager is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a shooting at a northwest Charlotte Walmart, according to an arrest warrant.
It happened around 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, at the store on Callabridge Court, and the victim is expected to recover, WSOC reports. The Walmart is near the intersection of Mt. Holly-Huntersville Road and Brookshire Boulevard, maps show.
Investigators say a 17-year-old male was shot, and a female was assaulted with a 9 mm handgun “with the intent to kill her.”
Multiple store items were also damaged to destroyed during incident, including a checkout kiosk, officials said.
The 17-year-old suspect, who lives in Mount Holly, is accused of conspiring “with persons unknown to commit the felony,” an arrest warrant reports.
He was arrested Monday and has been charged with felony attempted first degree murder, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony conspiracy and misdemeanor injury to real property, the arrest warrant says.
Details of a motive have not been released.
The Observer has reached out to two attorneys listed in court records as representing the suspect to offer a chance to comment.
