A north Charlotte residential neighborhood became a crime scene when shots were fired shortly after 1 a.m. Monday, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

The identity of the person who died has not been released.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of Holly Street by someone reporting an assault with a deadly weapon, according to a June 15 news release. The neighborhood of single-family homes is just south of the intersection of Interstates 77 and 85, maps show.

“Upon their arrival, (officers) located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Shortly thereafter, officers pronounced that same victim as deceased on scene,” CMPD Major Torri Tellis said in a social media post.

“It’s an isolated incident. ... At this point, we are not looking for anyone else.”

Details of a motive and suspect have not been released.
