One person taken to hospital, two detained after west Charlotte shooting: CMPD

A person was shot at a west Charlotte apartment complex Tuesday morning and taken to the hospital, according to MEDIC.

The shooting occurred in the 1500 block of Parker Drive before 10:30 a.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police blocked off the road near the apartment and helicopters were seen flying overhead shortly afterward, CMPD spokesperson Megan Suber told the Observer.

The person had non-life-threatening injuries, MEDIC said.

While officers were at the scene, a woman, who told police she lived at the apartment complex, said she couldn’t breathe and needed her oxygen tank. Police escorted the woman to her unit, but asked permission to enter, saying a sweatshirt related to the shooting was in her apartment.

No one was arrested, but two people were detained, according to Suber.
