Cold case arrests: CMPD charges three people in 2017 killing

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police detectives have charged three people in a murder case that is nearly a decade old.

Nathaniel Rorie, Broderick Falls and David Webber have all been charged with murder in the death of Raymond Johnson, according to a news release from the department on Tuesday.

Police first found Johnson’s body on Aug. 3, 2017, in the 3700 block of Monroe Road. He worked at a pawn shop, according to The Charlotte Observer’s news partner, WSOC. His widow had long tried to keep attention on the case, WSOC reported.

CMPD arrested Falls and — with help from other agencies — Rorie on Monday.

Webber is already in North Carolina Department of Adult Correction custody. CMPD said detectives would interview him.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call 704-432-8477 and speak with a cold case detective directly. Anonymous tips can also be left with Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
