Police identify woman who died in west Charlotte shooting; man arrested in Georgia

Police identified a 27-year-old woman as the victim of a west Charlotte home shooting Sunday morning, according to a news release Wednesday.

Marle Naomi Fleming died at a hospital Tuesday from gunshot wounds after she was transported from a home in the 900 block of Wabash Avenue, CMPD said.

She and another person were injured in the shooting at 9:30 a.m. on June 28. The other person sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Fleming was one of a dozen people at the home when the home was shot at, including two toddlers, a 6-year-old and a teenager, a police report said.

Marques Fleming was arrested on Tuesday by FBI SWAT Atlanta agents in connection to the shooting in Georgia, CMPD said.

He will be extradited back to Charlotte.
