Gunshots leave one dead in Charlotte apartment community, CMPD says
A male died at the scene after being shot at an apartment complex in east Charlotte’s Commonwealth Park community, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.
It happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Eastcrest Drive, two blocks south of Central Avenue.
The identity of the person who died has not been released, and CMPD did not report details of a suspect.
It’s the third homicide reported on Eastcrest Drive since 2024.
On Sept. 26, 2024, a 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1700 block, and on Nov. 10, 2024, a 17-year-old was shot and killed in the 1600 block, CMPD reports. A suspect in the September shooting was arrested two months later in Texas, CMPD says.
