Police conducting death investigation in west Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are conducting a death investigation in the 2400 block of Columbus Circle in west Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.

Homicide detectives responded to a call for service from Medic at about 12:20 p.m. and found a male victim “suffering from fatal injuries,” police said in a news release. Police have not said whether the victim was shot or suffered other types of injuries.

Columbus Circle is off Berryhill Road and Freedom Drive.

Police said they will release the victim’s name once his family is notified

Anyone with information about the death is asked to call police at 704-432-TIPS (8477) or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

Earlier Thursday, police investigated a shooting death on State Street, off Tuckaseegee Road in west Charlotte. Police said one of two suspects who entered a home shortly after midnight was fatally shot, and a person in the home was seriously injured.
