2nd suspect arrested in attempted killing outside Oak Room night club
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on Thursday arrested a second suspect in the May 26 attempted killing of a man outside the Oak Room dance club and lounge on East Bland Street.
The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. after a fight among several people in the Oak Room spilled into a nearby parking lot, police said. East Bland Street is off South Tryon Street in South End.
Police charged Cameron McVay, 28, and Marteries Southern, 29, with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Southern was arrested without incident on June 23. Police arrested McVay without incident on Thursday morning. McVay was jailed on $100,000 bail. Southern is free on $105,000 bail.
