CMS to close schools Friday due to winter weather
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools will be closed on Friday due to weather-related road conditions, the district said, citing concerns about safety.
Before- and after-school programs, athletic events and field trips also will be cancelled.
Activities scheduled for the weekend, including community use of school facilities, will be held as planned, the district said.
The district opted for an early release on Thursday ahead of expected winter weather conditions. CMS last closed schools earlier this month following unsafe road conditions as a result of a storm.
