Fresh air and celebration at Beverly Woods walk-to-school event

Dozens of parents and students converged on foot at Beverly Woods Elementary School Wednesday morning, celebrating national Walk to School Day. The event encourages families to consider the health and environmental benefits of walking or biking.

The south Charlotte school encouraged everyone to wear blue in honor of the school’s recent blue ribbon award from the U.S. Department of Education. Beverly Woods, which is part of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, was one of three in North Carolina honored for high academic achievement.
