Are street closures stalling your commute in Charlotte? Here’s how to track them

Street closures because of development projects are a sign of Charlotte’s rapid growth, but they can also disrupt your commute to and from work.

While there’s no way to prevent street closures, there are steps you can take to track them and the traffic they produce.

The City of Charlotte has an interactive street closure map with upcoming and active projects that impact streets and roads. Each closure highlighted on the map contains the street, reason for the closure, and the dates and times each project starts and ends.

To find street closures in your neighborhood, or along your commute route, you can type in an address at the top of the web page. As of Wednesday, there were 40 street closures listed throughout the city, according to the interactive log.

Charlotte residents can find active and upcoming street closures on the city’s interactive map.

You can also filter street closures in the city by date and time by selecting “options” at the bottom of the web page.

Charlotte residents can also sign up for Notify-Me, the city’s alert system, to get road closure notifications. Just enter your email and phone number, select “getting around” and check the boxes next to “road closures” to start receiving notifications.
