A Charlotte luxury movie theater, where customers can have food delivered to their seats, received a “B” grade from the Mecklenburg County Health Department for numerous health violations, including the presence of insects and food buildup on kitchen surfaces.

Cinergy Dine-In Cinemas, 5336 Docia Crossing Rd., received a score of 86.5 during its June 9 inspection.

Health department inspectors cited the theater after finding “flying insects in the kitchen and dead bugs on the floor,” documents show. Dead bugs were also found in the theater’s concession station.

The theater was also written up for a “large amount of grease build up and debris” on equipment and shelves throughout the facility, documents show.

Other violations the theater was cited for include:

  • Ranch cups stored above required temperatures

  • Queso stored below required temperatures

  • Dishes stored as clean with food debris

  • Food stored on the floor

This is the theater’s second “B” grade.

According to state law, permits are immediately revoked if a restaurant receives a score of less than 70 percent.

The Charlotte Observer contacted the theater for comment regarding its score prior to publication.
