A 1.3-mile greenway opened near Lake Norman this week, creating a 4-mile greenway loop for walkers, runners, bikers and other outdoors enthusiasts.

Caldwell Station Tributary Greenway connects Northern Regional Recreation Center to the existing 2.6-mile greenway, Cornelius Parks & Recreation officials said on social media Wednesday morning.

The new greenway also connects to Huntersville’s Caldwell Station and Hyde Park businesses and storage suites in Cornelius, including Eleven Lakes Brewing Co. on Bailey Road.

Mayor Woody Washam cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the new greenway.

“People do love our greenways, that’s for sure,” Washam said during the Cornelius Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday night.
