A man was driving in Missouri when his car began overheating, prompting him to pull over at a gas station.

While at the Casey’s General Store in Doniphan, he decided to buy a “Fun 5s” scratchers game ticket, according to a Sept. 15 news release from the Missouri Lottery.

As he was scratching his ticket, he quickly noticed the increasing prize amount, officials said. He didn’t realize quite how much he won until a gas station attendant scanned his ticket.

“She told me I won $100,000, and I was like, ‘Sweet mother Jesus,’” he told lottery officials. “I guess it was my day.”

He knows just what to buy with his newfound cash: a new vehicle.

Doniphan is about 350 miles southeast of Kansas City.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
