Perdue launches new beer to help you make ‘beer can chicken.’ When to get it
Poultry giant Perdue is launching a limited-time ale that’s made for grilling.
And you can sip it, too.
The new brew, dubbed “Beer Can Chicken Beer,” is a “honey double-citrus summer ale brewed” with classic poultry seasonings including rosemary, thyme and pink peppercorn, according to a May 17 news release.
It comes as families get ready to kick off the summer grilling season, with chicken being a popular choice.
Perdue said it teamed up with New York-based Torch & Crown Brewing Company for the custom beer, available online only starting Monday, May 22, the release said.
For $14.99, beer lovers can snag a six-pack — while supplies last. Shipping and state taxes will be added, and six-packs are limited to two per person, according to the website.
What’s ‘beer can chicken’?
A common method for grilling poultry, “beer can chicken” involves steeping a chicken from the inside out using an opened can of beer.
The can is placed upright inside the chicken and cooked over an indirect flame, infusing “the bird with flavor” while also keeping it moist as it grills, according to Perdue.
The company said its new “Beer Can Chicken Beer” can also be enjoyed on its own. Customers must be at least 21 to purchase, however, and a signature is required.
