‘Picturesque property’ for sale looks like an adorable mini lighthouse. Take a look
Want to experience the joy of living in a lighthouse without leaving the inland? Then this house that recently went on the market in Limington, Maine, is downright perfect.
Shaped like an alabaster octagon, the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom residence — that’s listed for $575,000 — has the appearance of a mini lighthouse, which could have been the goal of the architect Julie Larry, who built the home in 2002 and has a very special connection with the home.
According to Realtor.com, the architect molded the home after the eight-sided house of Captain Josiah Chase that sits only a few miles away from the newer residence. Larry is the great-great grandson of Chase.
“Wildlife watchers, garden growers, music makers and portrait painters - prepare to be inspired by this unique, picturesque property!” the listing on Realtor says.
The home sits on 18 acres of lush, green land and has unique (and even new) features across its 3,168-square-footage, including:
Plank wood floors
High ceilings
Natural light flowing through
Dine-in kitchen
Fireplace
Attic
Basement
Flex space above garage
Balcony
“The prior owners used the property as a goat farm, where they made soap and goat cheese, and you can still see the sign—’Bending Birch Farm’—that hangs in front of the house,” listing agent Bridget King of King + Miller Real Estate told Realtor.
“It was permitted back then as a business with the town, so you would have to get the necessary approvals if you wanted to do that again. I feel, with some creativity, you could do all sorts of things with this property. It just has a really cool vibe.”
Limington is about 30 miles northwest of Portland.
