A Missouri woman has always enjoyed playing the different variations of the Treasure Hunt lottery game, which has now made her a jackpot winner.

“I’ve always just liked that game,” the woman from Phelps County told Missouri Lottery officials in a May 30 news release.

Her big moment came after purchasing a $3 ticket at a convenience store in St. James.

When she got home and scratched off the ticket, her $50,000 win left her stunned.

“I almost threw up,” the winner said. “I went straight into shock. My face got real hot and I almost hyperventilated. I was like, ‘Holy crap!’”

The $50,000 prize is one of seven jackpot rewards in the Treasure Hunt game, which also offers 80 $1,000 prizes.

The winner said she plans to purchase a new car with her winnings.

Phelps County is in central Missouri and is about a 110-mile drive southwest from St. Louis.

Many people can gamble or play games of chance without harm. However, for some, gambling is an addiction that can ruin lives and families.

If you or a loved one shows signs of gambling addiction, you can seek help by calling the national gambling hotline at 1-800-522-4700 or visiting the National Council on Problem Gambling website.
