Lottery player gets ‘congratulations’ message in gaming app and won’t believe it. ‘Nah’
An Ohio man said he was in shock when his lottery app congratulated him on his big win, lottery officials said.
The lottery player won $150,000 on a Lady Luck 25X scratch-off ticket purchased at a Sunoco Gas Station/PS Food Mart in Toledo, according to a May 30 news release from the Ohio Lottery.
“I went to my car, pulled up the app, scanned the ticket and it says ‘Congratulations, you won $150,000,’” the winner told lottery officials.
“I went, ‘nah,’” he said.
The man waited until everyone left the gas station before going inside and asking the cashier to verify his win, officials said.
“She scanned it and she screamed,” he told lottery officials.
After taxes, he took home $108,000, officials said.
He told lottery officials he bought a new truck and put the rest in the bank.
