‘Plant emergency’ leads to Missouri woman winning huge lottery prize
A Missouri woman made an unplanned stop at a gas station which led to her winning a huge lottery prize.
The woman was headed to her sister’s house to try and save a dying plant, according to a July 15 news release from the Missouri Lottery.
“I was going to her house because I was going to kill that plant,” she said, per the release. “So, I just randomly stopped at the gas station.”
While at the gas station in Hazelwood, she bought a $100,000 Cash Payout Scratchers ticket. The woman scratched off the ticket in the car and realized she won a huge prize.
“I was shocked,” she said, according to the release. “I actually got lost on the way to her house. I had to call her because I didn’t believe what just happened.”
The woman won the game’s top prize of $100,000.
She said she plans to take a family vacation, per the release.
“I’m going to surprise my kids with a trip to a theme park they’ve wanted to go to,” she told lottery officials.
