A lottery player in Missouri didn’t know she had won a big prize — until her store clerk’s stunned reaction.

The woman from Oronogo purchased a Show Me Cash lottery ticket ahead of the July 13 drawing, and she returned to Brad’s Convenience Store the next day to see if she won.

She did, and the store clerk was taken aback by the prize amount.

“I didn’t realize (I had won) until the retail clerk looked at the screen and took two steps back,” the winner told Missouri Lottery officials. “Then she looked at me and looked back at the screen again, and then she motioned for her boss to come up. The boss walks up and says, ‘Oh, my god.’ It shocked her.”

“That’s how I realized I’d won $128,000!” she added.

The lottery player, who won by matching the numbers 20-29-31-37-39, claimed her prize July 17, lottery officials said.

The $128,000 win was the jackpot in Show Me Cash, which costs $1 to play. Drawings are held daily and the jackpot grows until someone wins.

Oronogo is about a 150-mile drive south from Kansas City.
