Wendy’s worker exchanges gunfire with customer in argument over fries, KY cops say

A Wendy’s employee was shot by a customer in an argument over cold fries, Kentucky authorities say.

The shooting happened Jan. 6 inside of a Wendy’s on Dixie Highway in Louisville and led to the arrest of 25-year-old Monjah James-Wooten, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.

James-Wooten and two others were in the drive-thru when they got into a verbal fight with an employee over cold fries in their order, according to a citation.

The group then went inside the restaurant, where police said James-Wooten brought out a gun and fired a single shot. The worker returned fire, leading to the customer shooting multiple rounds at the employee, authorities said.

One of the bullets struck the worker in the butt, and she was taken to a hospital, according to the citation. James-Wooten and his group are then accused of fleeing after the shooting.

As police investigated the Wendy’s incident, a woman who was with James-Wooten reported she was also shot by him, police said. Her injuries were not disclosed.

He was arrested Jan. 17 and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, according to the court records.

In court Jan. 18 for his arraignment, James-Wooten was ordered to stay in jail on a $50,000 bond, court records show. He remains in the Louisville jail as of Jan. 22.
