Woman killed in crash after grabbing steering wheel during argument, Michigan cops say
A car lost control and slammed into two concrete walls on a freeway, killing a woman and sending two toddlers to a hospital, Michigan police said.
The 28-year-old woman was a passenger in the vehicle when she and a 27-year-old male driver got into an argument on Feb. 23 in Detroit, Michigan State Police said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She grabbed the steering wheel, which caused the driver to lose control, police said. The vehicle hit a concrete wall on the right side of the road, then veered across the freeway and struck another concrete wall on the opposite side of the road, according to troopers.
The man and woman were not wearing seat belts, but police said the two children were buckled in. The woman had reportedly been drinking, according to the post.
The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The children, ages 1 and 2, were taken to the hospital for treatment, police said.
Officials are investigating the accident and will turn over a report to the prosecutors office for review.
