A man walked into a police department lobby to tell officers he had killed his 71-year-old mother, California cops reported.

Malcolm Tilley, 31, of Pleasanton entered the lobby to report her death at about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, the Pleasanton Police Department said in a news release.

He told officers he killed her after a dispute, police said.

Officers went to his home, where they found a person dead with multiple knife wounds, police said. They found several kitchen knives near the body.
