Dog rehomed so many times he feels like he ‘doesn’t belong.’ He needs a family

A huggable dog with a beautifully cartoonish-shaped body is in the market for a new home in Kentucky — one that finally sticks.

Zeus is called a “low rider” pup for a reason, one that can be figured out just by looking at his tiny legs and tank-like body, the Bowling Green/Warren County Humane Society said in a playful social media post.

And it just adds to the adorableness that makes up this sweet guy.

“Aren’t the best marshmallows the ones that are soft and gooey on the inside but a little crispy on the outside? Well, Zeus is 61 pounds of low-riding muscle and attitude and he definitely tries to act a little crispy and tough when he meets other animals, but get him alone and he turns into a big marshmallow and melts in your arms!” the shelter said in a April 21 Facebook post.

“Zeus is a great dog (and FUNNY...you can’t help but smile when you look at him!) but we think that perhaps his awkwardly short little legs have given him the idea that he has something to prove to the world.”

Even though he’s a senior pup, it doesn’t seem to weigh him down in the least.

“He is approximately 8 years old and is gentle and loving with people and LOVES to be the center of attention!” the shelter says. “He is accustomed to living indoors but LOVES his outside time and we believe that the ideal home for him would be one where he can spend lots of time with his family but also satisfy his mischievous streak in a yard of his own!”

Unfortunately, the basset hound/German shepherd mix hasn’t found a permanent place to settle in or a family to call his own.

“Zeus has been back and forth from homes multiple times now, and he’s starting to feel like maybe he just doesn’t belong anywhere,” the shelter said. “He just wants a human best friend and doesn’t want to share the attention with other animals. In exchange, he promises to give you a lifetime of love and loyalty!”

Bowling Green is about a 120-mile drive south of Louisville.
