Investigators found three people and a dog dead inside an Oklahoma home while searching for a woman reported missing by her family, police said.

It was 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, when officers arrived at a Broken Arrow home with a search warrant, the police department said in a news release. They were investigating the disappearance of 20-year-old Alyssa Shippy, after out-of-state relatives contacted the department asking for help, police said.

But a grim scene awaited officers inside.

Police found a boy shot to death, as well as a dog, and a man who died by suicide, according to the department. Some time later, investigators also discovered the body of a woman, which they hadn’t immediately seen “due to the condition of the home,” police said.

“At this time, the identity of the woman has not been confirmed,” police said. “The medical examiner will conduct a full investigation to make a positive identification.”

Police say they are not publicly sharing the names of the deceased until next-of-kin have been contacted.

“This remains an active investigation,” the department said.

Broken Arrow is a suburb of Tulsa, and a roughly 15-mile drive southeast from the city’s downtown.
