Measmer, Shue win Cabarrus County commissioner primary race

Five Republicans are running for office in the nonpartisan race for Durham Public Schools Board of Education.

The three candidates that will represent the GOP in the Cabarrus County commissioner race in November include a former commissioner and an incumbent.

Former commissioner Chris Measmer led the way, receiving just under 20% of the vote, and incumbent Lynn Shue got 15%. Kenny Wortman was third, receiving 14%.

Incumbent Blake Kiger lost his bid for reelection, receiving 12% of the vote.

Primary winners will be on the ballot with Democrat Sabrina Berry in November.
