What are the most important issues facing Mint Hill, and how would you address them?

Mint Hill is a thriving and desirable suburb with deep community roots and strong civic foundations. However, like many rapidly growing communities, it now faces critical challenges as it seeks to evolve without compromising its identity or overburdening its infrastructure.

As the town continues to attract new residents and businesses, it must navigate the pressures of expansion while preserving what makes it unique.

How should Mint Hill handle residential, commercial and industrial development? Should the town change any ordinances or rules to alter how development occurs? If so, what?

As our town grows, it’s essential that we pivot and adapt, responding not only to the needs and capabilities of today but also planning thoughtfully for the future. Sustainable progress requires balancing immediate priorities with a long-term vision that ensures our community thrives for generations to come.

What’s the best thing the Board of Commissioners has done for Mint Hill in the last 4 years? And what’s the worst thing?

The acquisition of the old Bain Elementary building to serve as the town’s new community center, providing a welcoming space for all residents to gather, along with the construction of a new fire department to further enhance public safety, are just a few of the many positive advancements our town has made over the past four years.

The General Assembly has given Mecklenburg County permission to put a referendum on the ballot to raise the county’s sales tax to fund road, rail and bus projects. Will you vote in favor of the referendum? Why or why not?

I fully support having the sales tax referendum on the ballot, giving every voter in Mecklenburg the opportunity to do their own research and vote for what best benefits themselves and their families.

What separates you from your opponent(s)?

As a proven leader, I have always focused on the future of our town, not just the present. Over the past three terms, I’ve taken seriously the responsibility of being a voice for our residents. I’ve remained accessible, responsive and committed to helping whenever needed. My goal has always been to listen, lead and make decisions that move our community forward.

What one professional or political accomplishment are you most proud of?

After years in corporate America, I made the bold decision to step away from the predictable path and invest in something deeper, my community. I’m proud to now own a small business right in the heart of downtown. It’s more than just a career change; it’s a commitment to building something meaningful, local and lasting.
