Over 333,000 pacifiers recalled because the nipple might come off and choke your baby
Pacifier nipples should go in your baby’s mouth, but not down the throat to possibly choke your child. That’s why Mushie & Co. recalled about 333,725 FRIGG Silicone Pacifiers on Wednesday.
The exact problem, as explained in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice: “The base of the silicone nipple has a fine slit that can cause the nipple to detach from the plastic shield, posing a choking hazard.”
Mushie, a Houston company that imported the pacifiers, says it’s received eight reports of the nipple detaching. Danish manufacturer FRIGG has received 200 reports from outside the United States of this happening.
The pacifiers were sold at some brick-and-mortar stores, including TJ Maxx, and online at Mushie and Amazon’s sites from April to December last year for $8 per pacifier or $15 for two. They come in 40 colors in the Classic and the Daisy design.
If you have these recalled pacifiers, you can return them to the store of purchase for a full refund. Mushie asks that you pursue a refund or a credit through the company by cutting the nipple from the base of the pacifier and sending a picture of both to a Mushie website page. But, as there’s no place on that page to upload photos, email them to productsafety@mushie.com.
Email questions to that address or call Mushie at 877-687-4431, Monday through Friday.
