If you’re craving a treat, a Charlotte bakery may be the best place to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Honeybear Bake Shop was named the top-ranking spot to get cookies in North Carolina, the restaurant review website Yelp said on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

The business describes itself as an “online cookie boutique” with flavors ranging from peanut butter and jelly to peaches and creme. One favorite is cinnamon roll, which showcases the shop’s history of adding twists to classic desserts, CharlotteFive reported.

On Yelp, several Honeybear Bake Shop customers have raved that their orders were filled with unique and tasty cookies, helping it earn the maximum 5-star rating.

Beyond cookies, people also can’t get enough of the other sweets that Honeybear Bake Shop is dishing out. The business brought back its bourbon pecan pie brownies and sold out of them ahead of Thanksgiving, according to a Nov. 15 Instagram post.

Those interested in trying the shop’s treats for themselves can use Honeybear’s website to pre-order for delivery or pickup. Ordering is available from Sundays to Thursdays for customers to take home on Fridays from a location on Thrift Road in Charlotte, according to the business’ website.

In 2020, Hannah Neikirk said she started the shop after she was furloughed during the coronavirus pandemic. While at home, she started getting back into baking and felt a sense of passion, CharlotteFive reported.

“I feel bad saying this, but if it were not for COVID-19, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Neikirk told the news outlet. “It hasn’t always been roses and daisies during this crazy year and transition, but I believe everything happens for a reason. I have stayed positive because I am so excited to be able to finally pursue my dreams.”

The bakery’s cookies were named the best in North Carolina after Yelp said it studied treat-related businesses on its website. Among places serving cookies, it evaluated “a number of factors including the total volume and ratings of reviews” from January 2001 to Oct. 17, 2021.
