‘Spunky’ puppy rescued from road is being overlooked at NC shelter. He needs a home
A “sweet” puppy rescued from the “sweltering heat” is now being overlooked at a North Carolina animal shelter.
“He is so spunky, fun, and eager to learn,” Carolina Animal Rescue & Adoption (CARA) wrote Sept. 7 on Facebook. “He has had little to no interest and we do not know why. We love him so much and he has so much love to give to a family.”
Little Von, also known as Von, is ready for his next chapter after getting a rough start to life. He was about 2 months old when he was found “in the middle of a rural road, in the sweltering heat,” the Sanford-area shelter told McClatchy News in an email.
Von was “hot, lost and confused” when a good Samaritan helped him get to safety. Now, about three months later, the pup is still waiting for a home, the shelter wrote on social media and in an online adoption profile.
Over time, Von has become known as a “sweet little munchkin” with a playful personality. He’s often found cuddling and giving kisses.
“He is learning basic canine skill quickly, and is such a love bug,” the shelter wrote in its email. “He is dog friendly, and okay with cats and kids.”
As of Sept. 9, the mixed-breed pup was still up for adoption in Sanford, a roughly 40-mile drive southwest from Raleigh. More details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at cara-nc.org or via email at cara@cara-nc.org.
“We never want to say that we watched a puppy grow up in a kennel but that is unfortunately what is happening with sweet Little Von,” the animal organization wrote.
