Stray dog was found covered in paint — and now needs a home. Meet Bob Ross
A stray dog was found with paint all over him — and now, he needs a home.
“I’m Bob Ross, the artist with paws,” a North Carolina animal shelter said Sept. 12 in a Facebook post written from the dog’s perspective. “You heard that right — when I came in as a stray, I was covered in paint! Who knows, maybe I was working on my masterpiece. Either way, I’m here now, and I’m ready to paint a whole new picture with my future family!”
Bob Ross bears the same name as the man who hosted a TV show called “The Joy of Painting.” In the 1980s and 90s, the host showed people how to make art and was known for the phrase: “We don’t make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents.”
While the pup has a creative side, the Franklin County Animal Shelter said he’s also known for his “friendly, fun-loving” nature.
“Whether we’re playing fetch, going for walks, or just chilling out, I’ll be your happy little cloud of joy,” the shelter wrote. “I’ve got a creative spirit, a wagging tail, and a heart full of love just waiting for the right family to share it with.”
Though the shelter said Bob Ross arrived in September, it didn’t share additional details about his paint dilemma. An online adoption profile for the roughly 2-year-old mixed-breed pup was active as of Sept. 13.
“If you’re looking for a dog with personality, a little mystery, and a whole lot of love, I think we’d be a perfect match,” the shelter wrote. “Adopt me, and let’s paint our future together — no mistakes, just happy accidents.”
The Franklin County Animal Shelter didn’t immediately share additional information with McClatchy News on Sept. 13. More details about the shelter’s adoption process can be found at franklincountync.gov/county_services/animal_shelter.php.
The shelter is in Louisburg, a roughly 30-mile drive northeast from Raleigh.
