Here is Charlotte’s frigid Sunday weather forecast as ice storm lingers
Charlotteans awoke to icy streets and temperatures in the teens Sunday, and conditions will not improve during the day.
Here is the latest Sunday forecast from the National Weather Service:
Today: Freezing rain and sleet this morning, then freezing rain with a slight chance of sleet this afternoon. Patchy fog. Little or no sleet accumulation. Ice accumulation around one quarter of an inch to 0.43 of an inch. High around 30. Northeast winds of 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent. Higher ice accumulations expected to the north and west, including more than a half of an inch in Shelby, 0.68 of an inch in Statesville and 0.74 of an inch in Clemmons.
Sunday night: Freezing rain in the evening. Patchy fog moves in, then areas of fog after midnight. Ice accumulation of up to a tenth of an inch. Lows in the upper 20s. West winds of 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
Monday: Storm exits. Mostly sunny. High in the upper 30s. Northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.
Monday night: Clear and colder, with low around 11. Northwest winds of 5 to 10 mph.
