Snow shocked the Lake Norman area around 11 a.m. Thursday after at least an inch fell overnight, surprising even the forecast.
The snow coated driveways and grass along the Brawley School Road peninsula in Mooresville, but was not sticking to roads — at least heavily traveled ones.
Large, fluffy flakes fell for nearly 45 minutes near Interstate 77 Brawley School Road exit 35 and wasn’t letting up toward noon.

The snow covered ice that has lingered on driveways since last weekend’s monster snow and ice storm that struck the Charlotte region and much of the rest of the state.
