Charlotte has a chance of snow after midnight. Here’s the latest forecast
Charlotte has a 70% chance of rain through the day Wednesday, and there’s a possibility it will transition to snow after midnight, the National Weather Service said in a Feb. 4 news release.
Odds are around 50%, and there could also be patchy fog. The overnight low will be 30 degrees, forecasters say.
“As colder air filters (in) tonight, the rain may mix with or change to snow before ending. Some light freezing rain or freezing drizzle is also possible,” the NWS said early Wednesday.
“For now, any snow accumulations are expected to be very light, less than half an inch. Any icing would be very light as well and limited mainly to elevated surfaces.”
Thursday will be mostly sunny with a high in the lower forties, forecasters say.
The Charlotte area got 6 to 12 inches of snow on Saturday, and as much as 16 inches fell to the north in areas like Lexington, forecasters say. Melting of the snowpack is expected to continue the rest of the week, with daily highs in the forties.
Temperatures in the fifties will arrive on Monday, forecasters say.
