Ticket prices for NC high school playoffs increasing this fall. Here’s how much
High school football fans are going to have to pay more to go to public school playoff games in North Carolina, starting this fall.
Ticket prices for first and second round games are increasing from $8 to $10.
Prices for third and fourth round games are going from $8 to $14.
Regional championship tickets are increasing from $10 to $16, and state championship prices are going up five bucks — from $15 to $20.
The N.C. High School Athletic Association’s Board of Directors voted unanimously in the spring to make the changes. It’s the first time the NCHSAA has raised ticket prices in eight years.
Some school systems were charging more for regular-season games than the $8 the NCHSAA was charging in the non-regional or state championship rounds, the NCHSAA told The Observer.
In Mecklenburg County, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools charges $8 for tickets, though many are bought via an online vendor, which adds a $1 fee.
For some of its tournaments, the district will charge $10, like for the upcoming Greater Charlotte 7A/8A volleyball tournament. The first round will be $8, but the semifinals and finals will be $10.
