A post-Super Bowl ad on Sunday night offered Charlotte-area fans a glimpse of the secondary jerseys that the city’s new Major League Soccer expansion club, Charlotte FC, will wear during the upcoming season.

The team on Monday fully unveiled its Adidas uniforms that will be worn as an alternative to the primary kits unveiled last December. These uniforms, known as “community kits,” offer a nod to Charlotte’s coin manufacturing history and its “Mint City” ties.

The black jerseys feature mint green accent colors. Similar to the primary kits, the team’s lead sponsor, Ally, sits front and center on the jersey tops with secondary sponsor, Centene Corporation, featured on the sleeves. Charlotte FC’s crown-inspired crest is also prominent on the upper chest.

Details, such as patterning near the collar and sleeves, as well as a graphic on the lower corner of the top that says “Mint City,” differ from the blue primary jerseys that will typically be worn for home matches. Mint City Collective is one of Charlotte FC’s largest and most active supporters groups.

“I know the fans are going to love this unique kit, which is the perfect blend of Charlotte history and adidas vision,” Ally chief marketing and public relations officer Andrea Brimmer said in a statement. “It’s another key step as the excitement builds for the first kick in the Carolinas.”

The team is less than two weeks out from its first match against D.C. United in Washington, D.C. on Feb. 26. Its inaugural home match is set for the following week against the LA Galaxy at Bank of America Stadium on March 5.

The new kit will go on sale to the general public Tuesday morning on Charlotte FC’s website and through the team store.
