Latest Scout.com national rankings heavy on Carolinas high school basketball talent

National high school recruiting service scout.com released its updated rankings for 2018 basketball recruits. Carolinas’ players were well-represented.

The top recruit in South Carolina, and the No. 1 overall Carolinas recruit was Spartanburg Day’s Zion Williamson. Williamson, who is the cover boy for the latest Slam Magazine, is ranked No. 3 in the nation. Williamson is a 6-foot-7, 240-pound left-handed junior, known for his powerful dunks.

The top ranked N.C. recruit is High Point Wesleyan’s Jaylen Hoard, a 6-8 small forward who plays for High Point Wesleyan Academy. Hoard is No. 16 overall nationally. Hoard has two high school teammates ranked among the top 80 nationally: wing Aaron Wiggins and center Ian Steere.

▪ No. 2 Coby White, Wilson Greenfield School (UNC commit, No. 30 overall)

▪ No. 3 Devon Dotson, Providence Day (No. 38 overall).

▪ No. 4 Aaron Wiggins, High Point Wesleyan (Maryland commit, No. 45 overall)

▪ No. 5 Jairus Hamilton, Cannon School (No. 63 overall)

▪ No. 6 Ian Steere, High Point Wesleyan (No. 76 overall).

▪ No. 7 Rechon Black, Montverde (Fla.) Academy (Concord native, No. 84 overall)
